Course Description

We offer a 32-hour course to train aspiring bartenders how to free-pour over one hundred drinks including highballs, tropicals, shots, martinis, and much more. Students will learn the history, brands and distilling process for liquors, cordials, beer, wine and Champagne. We cover liquor laws and liability, customer service, serving private parties, and more. This class begins at a basic level - no previous experience is necessary. Graduates will have the knowledge and skills to serve at any bar in the United States, and will have the professionalism, confidence and knowledge to make good tips and make employers look good.  Anyone can attend class - there is no age limit.  Note that you must be 21 years old to serve at a bar, but not 21 to go through bartending school.

Class Times

Students can enroll in a one-week or two-week course. Both programs cover the same material at the same cost. One-week students will attend 8 hours of class each day Monday through Thursday. Two-week students will attend 4 hours of class Monday through Thursday for two weeks. There are three 4-hour class times to choose from: 8:00 am to 12:00 pm, 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, or 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.  Final exams are administered on Fridays.

Class Size

Each class is limited no more than three students.  In order to focus our instructor’s attention on each student we keep our classes small.   Students will have plenty of one-on-one time with the instructor for asking questions and instructor observation of their practice.  Beware: some other bartending schools will accept up to 15 students in one class!

Tuition

Tuition for the course is $700, although we are running a Winter 2012 special of $600.  Enroll in any class that begins by February 20th to receive $100 off regular tuition.  Tuition is due upon enrollment; applicants cannot attend class until tuition has been received. We accept PayPal, cash, check, money order or credit and debit card.  Visit the Contact page and follow us on Twitter and Facebook.  We periodically post tuition specials on our social media accounts.

Job Placement

Blue Label Bartending School offers job placement assistance to all of our graduates.  When bars and restaurants call us looking for recent graduates we forward their requests to our graduates.  We help put you in touch with the establishments that are hiring.  We mainly work with Tulsa-area bars and restaurants, but we do have students working as far away as Ada and Tahlequah!  We do not guarantee you a job, and students should beware of any school or program that guarantees employment.  Only a bar owner or manager can guarantee you a job!   Two out of three graduates from our school find a bartending job within two weeks of graduation.

Internet Courses: Don’t Be Fooled!

You may find several websites that claim they can make you a bartender with a book or DVD for as little as $99.  Don’t fall into the trap!  Bartending is a hands-on profession.  The only way to be fast and accurate is by practicing behind a working bar while being observed by an experienced instructor.  Books and DVDs can enhance your knowledge, but they should be used as accessories to your training, not a replacement for training.  To those who choose an internet course: best of luck finding a website that will offer job placement assistance, or finding a bar manager that will hire you with an online certificate.

Student Testimonials

Here are real testimonials from former students.  These comments were taken from our end-of-the-year anonymous student survey:

“Curriculum was good. Liked how we learned the drinks, then was given time to practice that day. Overall, I went in knowing nothing about bartending, and finished knowing all the basics. Which ultimately has landed me a job.”

“Had a great time. Enjoyed my time at Blue Label, and it certainly helped me as a bartender, in that I had a broad knowledge base of drinks, which even some more experienced bartenders lacked.”

“I had a great time and learned a great deal!! I loved it!!”

“The course was awesome, had there not been stress for time I would have passed the speed exam no prob. Great course. I enjoy my job and get many compliments on my drinks!!”
